Droitwich-based CMCS celebrates 25 years
Droitwich Spa, UK – 15th June, 2023 – Critical Mail Continuity Services (CMCS), the trusted recovery specialist for business-critical documents, is celebrating its 25th anniversary over the next few months. The business was founded in 1998 and has risen to be the leading provider of recovery and business continuity services, working with organisations across the financial services, insurance, retail and utility sectors.
Its 32,000 sq. ft. site in Droitwich has dedicated production areas with the capability to produce approximately eight million images per day and two million envelopes. It also has an additional 3,000 sq. ft. of office space, fitted with a secure network infrastructure exclusively for customer use in disaster situations.
The disaster situations CMCS supports its clients through don’t have to be a fire or flood – they can be as simple as a stock supply issue or a site review that uncovers a large maintenance issue. Both of these events could impact SLAs and a company’s reputation if handled incorrectly. The trust that clients have in CMCS means that, when an issue arises, one phone call provides the peace of mind that all the right people and processes are in place to keep their business operating.
As well as taking pride in building invaluable relationships with its clients over the last quarter of a century, CMCS is proud of how it retains and develops its people, who are the bedrock of the services it provides. The company has 25 employees, the majority of whom are based in the local area and have been with the business for an average of 16 years.
Ben Croot, Site Director at CMCS, said: “I started at CMCS during my gap year from university in 2001 and have been hooked ever since. The business has gone through countless changes over the 22 years I’ve been here, which has always kept us competitive within the markets we operate in, and means that our people are always learning new skills as every day is different. I thoroughly enjoy the work we do here at CMCS, and long may it continue.”
Peter Marshall, Sales and Client Services Director at CMCS, said: “The professional and flexible service that CMCS provides is engrained throughout the business. This was never more apparent than during the pandemic, when we were called upon to support our clients right from the start. Being able to help them fulfil their SLAs during Covid was testament to the close working partnerships we’ve established, and the robust testing that we undertake in preparation for such an event. It’s the confidence and trust that our clients have in us that has enabled the company to reach this magnificent 25-year landmark.”

Silvia Oliveria, Finishing Supervisor at CMCS, said: “I started as a Machine Operator at CMCS over 15 years ago. During this time, I’ve had the opportunity to learn new skills and have now moved on to a Production Supervisor role. Colin Hughes, Customer Account Manager at CMCS, said: “I came from a production environment to being much more customer facing at CMCS, which was a new but enjoyable journey for me. It provides new challenges every day, which even now I’m still coming to terms with! I’ve enjoyed almost 14 years with CMCS, largely because the people here are professional and we have a good team spirit. I feel we have been able to provide a great service to our customers over the years, but without notable stress or difficulty, which is a measure of the staff’s professionalism.”
