Continuous Power
If the worst should happen to your business, and you need to transfer your work to CMCS, you need to be able to rely on us. Part of this is knowing that we have as many measures as possible in place to ensure your work never stops.
One of these is our dedicated sub-station and state of the art UPS system (uninterrupted power supply) which cleans the electricity supply to the site.
In the event of a loss of power to the site, the UPS system is activated immediately and will ensure the continuous feed of power to the site for up to 30 minutes at 100% usage (regular testing gives recorded site usage at approx. 40%).
Simultaneous to the activation of the UPS system, a stand-alone, 800ltr, diesel powered generator activates, which is located in the rear yard of the site. This generator is fully operational and supplying the site within 12 seconds of activation. The generator, with a full tank, can power the site for 4 days, and fuel refills can be arranged within 12 hours. The fuel tank is located separately to the motor, allowing refuelling whilst in operation.
The system is continually monitored throughout the year and regularly tested and maintained to the following schedule:
• The power supply > UPS > Generator fail-over is tested bi-monthly (6 times per annum) to the point whereby the generator is running at full power and temperature, powering the site for 1-3 hours on each occurrence.
• The generator is fully serviced twice per annum and the UPS system has a maintenance service twice per annum also.
• Once per annum there is a full load test. A 3rd party supplier brings equipment on site that will force the generator to run at 100% capacity to ensure reliability at maximums (as stated, BAU records show averages less than 40% capacity usage).
• Fuel levels are monitored at every testing and maintenance visit. When the level reaches 75% of tank capacity a refill is ordered. Once per annum the fuel and oil are specifically sampled to check quality and water content (any issues resulting in the tank being immediately drained and replenished).
